EEGA movie Review:Technically and visually brilliant,content wise void
This film doesn’t have a big Hero to pull the crowds to the theater . This film doesn’t have an item song or commercial elements to attract mas audience . This film has one and only “always successful” director SS rajamouli . This is one of the much awaited film in tollywood and national media also had an eye on this film’s release . Its a director dream since 8 years . This is also touted as one of the most highly technical film with mind blowing graphics as the main asset of the film . This features nani , samantha , sudeep and the tiny yet giant powerful creature fly aka Eega . Now let’s get into deeper of the film and see what’s the real mettle in the film .
Story :
Movie begins with a conversation between a father and a baby child where child urges her father to say a story . Hands tied father explains a story with 3 characters a good boy , a bad boy and a good girl . Good girl happens to be Bindu(Samantha) , bad boy Sudeep(Sudeep) and good boy Nani(nani) . Sudeep is a sociopath womanizer who assumes that any girl should fall before him . Bindu is a micro artist and also runs charity on the parallel to help the poor and needy . Nani on the other hand is a an electrician by profession and tries hard to make love with Bindu . After his repeated trials , bindu falls for his true love . In this process Bindu meets Sudeep who owns a big construction company for the donation and on the first sight itself Sudeep gives a handsome amount . Sudeep starts making necessary plans to seduce samantha and comes to know that she is already in love with nani . Relentless sudeep abducts nani and brutally kills him . Now , nani re-incarnate as eega and tortures Sudeep and gives a death warning . How Eega pisses off Sudeep and how samantha comes to know that nani is reborn as eega ? How eega took revenge of his love ? has to be seen on big screen
On Screen :
Right from the first shot till the climax its Sudeep show all the way . He acted very well , you forget that he hailed from karnataka and doesn’t know a bit of Telugu . His self dubbing was also very impressive . His adamant , ecstatic and absurd expressions shows the different shades in his character . He is the real hero of the film . Samantha has nothing to do in the film . As usual Chinmayi’s dubbing is a big asset to her . Her make up very horrifying and she looked quite artificial in the movie . Nani did a decent job within his parameters . Though it is a small role , he did everything to bring justice to his character . The title character protagonist “Eega” is a visual treat to the audience . He dances,does weight lifting,participates in the race , express his agony and what not does everything like a human . Thagubothu Ramesh small appearance was funny . Remaining characters were just for come and go in the film .
Off Screen :
The man behind the screen , the captain of the ship SS rajamouli deserves a standing ovation . His hard work is clearly seen on the screen . His uphill struggle and dedication will be definitely paid off . His imagination is truly an inspiring to many film makers out there . His love to his movie is unmeasurable . He is sure gonna take a bagful of awards this year . Another highlight to the film was his brother MM Keeravani . His back ground music keeps you sit straight in the chair . His back ground music converts a worthless scene to a worth full one . No wonder why Rajamouli never choose an another music director . This time he didn’t rendered his voice in the songs and even in the back ground music . The album was refreshing and the BGM was haunting . Though for few excerpts he tried a new kinda music , yet not disturbing . Cinematography is another asset to the film . The climax shots were superbly shot and the lighting was just in perfect sync with the camera which enabled the scenes look rich . Editing was good . Dialogues were neat and crisp .
My Opinion :
Firstly , the whole film is a story conveyed by a father to his child . So , finding any logic less scenes and blaming the director would be a blatant mistake . Secondly , with a known story screenplay should be very engaging to keep the audience in the film and the screenplay writer is highly successful in that . The graphics and VFX used in the film were definitely a top notch and a step ahead of our indian cinema strength . Rajamouli gave a special identity to the telugu film industry with this technical extravaganza film . Nevertheless a mass movie lover inside me was not completely satisfied with the film , one shouldn’t escape appreciating good films with mettle . First half of the film was very engaging and promising . The interval episode and the climax scenes were the big highlight of the film . In the middle of the second half looked like its slipping away but director made sure that there would be no glitches in the screenplay . Undeniably it will increase the standard of Telugu cinema . This eega wont disappoint you and will add a smile on your face once you walk out of the theater
Verdict :
With the good content in the film and the enough pre-release publicity there would be no stopping for the film . This movie will be definitely loved by the children and liked by the adults . Technically and visually brilliant , content wise void . Go with your family and you will be delighted . Hit is written all over the film .
